Three Windows at Dusk
Transcript
Instrumental piece with no speech or recorded environmental sounds. After a brief opening pause, a high, bell-like melody sounds over lower plucked notes and soft chords. Around 0:16, the accompaniment becomes more active and the melody rises and falls, reaching its highest note around 0:26. Around 0:32, the opening idea returns in longer notes over sustained chords, and the music gradually softens. The final chord begins near 0:46. From about 0:48, its lingering tones fade away before the file ends at 0:52. The three windows are an imagined scene offered to accompany the music.
One courtyard, three lights
Imagine looking down into a courtyard. At one window someone is finishing a letter. At another, a hand moves a chair. The third still looks empty, until a lamp draws a small circle on the table.
The piece passes through those three lights: a brief appearance, a moment of movement and a slower farewell. The title invites you to picture the scene; you can also listen without attaching images to it.
